The famous Olympic flame with arrive in St Helens on Friday 1st June 2012.  It is expected that thousand of people will be lining the streets on the day to watch this amazing and probably once in a life time event!

The flame will arrive aboard a special vehicle in convoy which will have come from Greece.

It will begin its journey on Rainford Road Рaround 2.10pm Рnear St Helens Crematorium. A torchbearer will carry it on down  to Greenfield Road before a changeover at Dentons Green Lane. The flame will then turn a right at the Lingholme pub onto Boundary Road and then taking a left into Kirkland Street, up past the Asda supermarket on the left and upto the main roundabout at the bottom of Westfield Street. From here the Olympic torch will travel up Westfield Street towards Borough Road / Prescot Road before leaving the borough at the Prescot boundary and entering Knowsley Safari Park where  a major community event is expected to be held.

Spectators should consider the best vantage points of the route before the day!

Hundred of school children will be lining the route having created special Olympic flags & banners in school projects and there are expected to be weekend long street parties as communities celebrate a long bank holiday weekend from Friday to Tuesday starting with the Olympic torch route on the Friday, and followed by the Rainhill Gala on Monday and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on the Tuesday 4th June 2012.

Caffe & Co. will be open Friday 1st June as normal and will be serving a special Olympic Breakfast all weekend to mark the occasion.¬† We don’t know yet, but the flame may well pass the shop on Warrington Road to exit St Helens / Prescot / Rainhill¬†via the M62!
