It’s the¬†Rainhill Gala on Mon 27th May!¬† and it’s definately one not to be missed, here is just some of the things happening n the day.

It’s a huge event with lots of things for all the family.¬†

There is even a dedicated food court and beer tent!

Although we (Caffe & Co) will be open all day on the day for breakfast, lunch, coffee, ice cream as usual, we will also have a stand at the Gala serving sweet and savoury crepes so please visit us!  If you are looking for your regular fix of caffeine then we are serving our wonderful brew at the shop and it is available for take away too.

There are a number of events taking place between now and spring 2013.  For many of these event, we encourage booking in advance for breakfast / lunch to avoid dissapointment;

2 & 3rd March 2013 – The Rainhill Model Railway Exhibition – held at Rainhill Parish Hall.

10th March 2013 – Mother’s Day.¬† We will be open a little later than usual this day, please see the website for updated details.

17th Mar 2013 – St Patrick’s Day. We will be open a little earlier and closing a little later than usual this day, please see our opening hours on the website for upto date details.

5th Apr 2013 – Aintree Ladies Day. A popular day out so you may be advised to book for breakfast this day.

6th Apr 2013 РAintree Grand National.  We are busy all day this day to highly recommended you book.

27th May 2013 РRainhill Gala Day.  Very busy this day, please book if possible.

16th Jun 2013 – Father’s Day.¬† A very busy day for breakfast and unch, highly recommended to book to avoid dissapointment,

The Liverpool Sound City Expo will take place in¬†St Ann’s¬†Millenium Centre Rainhill on Saturday 10th November 2012.

Sound City Expo is in Rainhill for one day only and gives anyone looking for a career in the world of music the perfect opportunity to meet some of the world’s leading music professionals.

It’s a fresher’s fair layout in a relaxed atmosphere and is the ideal time to ask questions regardign a career in music and is an absolute must for those studying music or music technology at GCSE or A level.

The Rainhill Music Festival will be held 4-11th November 2012.¬† A wide range of events will be taking place during this week at St Anne’s Church, St Bartholomews Church, Rainhill Village Hall, Longon Lane Primary School, St Anne’s Millenium Centre and The Citadel St Helens.

The aim of the music festival is to provide a platform for the young people of Rainhill to perform and compete.

A full calendar of events can be seen on the Rainhill Music Festival website.  Tickets are on sale in local churches.

Caffe & Co. are proud sponsors of the Rainhill Beer Festival 2012 which will be held on Thurs 8th РSat 10th November 2012 at the Rainhill Recreation Club.  Organised and run by the Rainhill Rotary Club, the event attracts huge numbers of visitors each year.  In 2011 £12,000 was raised for local charities.

We will be open on Tuesday 5th June for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.¬† Join us for breakfast, lunch, ice cream and more!

Mike Dooling of Rainhill visited Caffe & Co. today to show off his Olympic Torch.  Mike was an extra in the 1982 Oscar winning olympic film, Chariots of Fire.

Mike has always been heavily involved in athletics and is still active today in organising many sports events in and around the community.¬†¬†Mike¬†is leaving his Olympic¬†torch on display at Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School in Prescot once he has conducted 25 assemblies in and around the area. Well done Mike!

The famous Olympic flame with arrive in St Helens on Friday 1st June 2012.  It is expected that thousand of people will be lining the streets on the day to watch this amazing and probably once in a life time event!

The flame will arrive aboard a special vehicle in convoy which will have come from Greece.

It will begin its journey on Rainford Road Рaround 2.10pm Рnear St Helens Crematorium. A torchbearer will carry it on down  to Greenfield Road before a changeover at Dentons Green Lane. The flame will then turn a right at the Lingholme pub onto Boundary Road and then taking a left into Kirkland Street, up past the Asda supermarket on the left and upto the main roundabout at the bottom of Westfield Street. From here the Olympic torch will travel up Westfield Street towards Borough Road / Prescot Road before leaving the borough at the Prescot boundary and entering Knowsley Safari Park where  a major community event is expected to be held.

Spectators should consider the best vantage points of the route before the day!

Hundred of school children will be lining the route having created special Olympic flags & banners in school projects and there are expected to be weekend long street parties as communities celebrate a long bank holiday weekend from Friday to Tuesday starting with the Olympic torch route on the Friday, and followed by the Rainhill Gala on Monday and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on the Tuesday 4th June 2012.

Caffe & Co. will be open Friday 1st June as normal and will be serving a special Olympic Breakfast all weekend to mark the occasion.¬† We don’t know yet, but the flame may well pass the shop on Warrington Road to exit St Helens / Prescot / Rainhill¬†via the M62!
